The Eames Lounge & Ottoman

The iconic and luxurious Eames Lounge and Ottoman features in our suites at The Spire Hotel. It was released in 1956 by Charles and Ray Eames, now one of the most significant designs of the 21st century.

The Eames Lounge and Ottoman is designed specifically to support your body. The seat is permanently tilted to take the weight off your lower spine and distribute it properly to the back of the chair. The lower cushion piece supports your lower back, so you feel relaxed. The angle supports your chest so that you can be comfortable as you read, watch a movie, or have a conversation in one of our spacious and well-appointed suites.

Not only does the chair itself have benefits but the Ottoman provides a health benefit too. Most of us sit or stand all day, so blood collects in the lower extremities. Resting your feet on the ottoman helps restore normal blood circulation.

The Eames is the perfect place to rest after a day on the slopes in winter, or a day’s hiking in summer, just to name a few of many activities in the beautiful and adventurous Queenstown. You’ll have to take turns relaxing in the iconic Eames.

Just to give you an idea, these chairs are worth $10,500, but that seems worth it when you look at all the advantages the chair provides.

As Charles Eames described them, “The leather cushions do have built-in wrinkles to start with, but that is a clue that spells comfort to come, like the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman’s mitt.”

These iconic chairs live in Museums but still offers comfort and style in interiors such as people’s homes or hotel suites like ours. We’d say it’s the perfect edition to our Hotel Suites here at The Spire.
