Summer fun

Mountain biking tracks in the south Island

Outstanding summer activities

Who said Summer had to be hot days?

It’s been a mild summer this year but hasn’t stopped anyone from going out a discovering the amazing hikes that surround us. Our favorite is Ben Lomond, with an elevation of 1,438 meters it gives us the best views of the Wakatipu basin.

Photographers say its perfect for a sunrise hike and to catch those beautiful red colors reflecting off the Remarkables.  While there are a number of amazing spots to capture that insta-worthy snap from, this one is on the doorstep.

Queenstown and it’s surroundings have some of the best Mountain biking tracks in the south Island. It’s just a small ride up to the Gondola or for those looking for an exclusive experience, to fly out and use Minaret station near Wanaka as their personnel playground.

Southern Lakes Helibikes offer relaxing rides through the fields for those not too adventurous and some mind blowing downhill tracks for the more experienced.  The Spire team enjoyed an amazing day out before Christmas sampling the range of available trails, barely scratching the surface.

Only a 30 minute drive from Queenstown is the Gibbston valley, the southernmost wine producing region in the world. Perfect for a sunny or rainy day, our private wine tours offer a great insight to some of the best wines to be found.

You’ll also appreciate the behind the scenes knowledge that will lift your wine game to Boss level!
