An Imperium Collection Hotel

The Imperium Group acquired The Spire Hotel Queenstown in June 2014, making it the second New Zealand based luxury boutique hotel investment for the group. Since the acquisition, Imperium Group have continued to operate The Spire Hotel as a pinnacle of luxury and service in Queenstown’s hotel industry. Featuring ten spaciously appointed guest suites, The Spire is renowned for its elegant and contemporary design and superior service, all from within the heart of a lively city.  

Our team is led by Imperium Group owners Sarah and Andrew Cox. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Andrew originally hails from Christchurch, New Zealand, where he began his career in hospitality before moving into banking. Andrew established Imperium Group in 2001 as a diversified investment company with interests in the travel industry. His professional experience and New Zealand roots are reflected in the hotel’s ethos and operations. The Spire delivers exceptional service and impeccable luxury while celebrating the lively, beautiful city from where it resides.

Overseeing operations at The Spire Hotel and Eichardt’s Private Hotel, James is originally from Auckland, New Zealand. Integrating the New Zealand style of hospitality with Queenstown’s stunning outdoor environment are James’ passions.

Having carved his name working alongside Masterchef’s Gary Mehigan as Assistant Manager of his award-winning Melbourne restaurant Fenix, James later spent eight years in Dubai where he headed up the food and beverage operation at the Intercontinental Dubai Marina and the Rivington Grill.
